Rather than picking up a last minute gift from the supermarket on the way home, why not try and suprise your loved one this year and buy them a special gift. Hampers – While most people would think of hampers as being Christmas or birthday hampers, there is a large variety of hampers available for various occassions throughout the year such as Valentines hampers. Compared to wine, chocolates or a cuddly toy, any of the available experience days will be far more fun and enjoyable for both you and your partner.

Chores – You do not need to splash the cash to show someone how much you love them! Especially in the current financial situation when lots of people are struggling with money, this option could be the perfect alternative to spending money on overpriced gifts that will either be gone within a couple of days or sit collecting dust on the shelf for the next year. Why not take on some of their chores for the day, or even for the week! So that your partner can relax for a while, why not tell them you will do all the cooking for the next few days or will tidy up for the next week. Obviously this only works if you do though! There is no point promising to help out and do the cooking all week and then failing to do any of it.
